In the meantime, the poly discussion list, discuss@torontopoly.ca (mailto:discuss@torontopoly.ca), remains somewhat active. If you would like to volunteer to help with this website, please contact admin@torontopoly.ca (mailto:admin@torontopoly.ca).

The volunteers of TorontoPoly.ca are very pleased to announce that our discussion list, discuss@torontopoly.ca, is now live. Community members are invited to subscribe by visiting the list's webpage at http://lists.torontopoly.ca/listinfo.cgi/discuss-torontopoly.ca (http://lists.torontopoly.ca/listinfo.cgi/discuss-torontopoly.ca)The list will be moderated by Siobhan NiLoughlin, who along with BC Holmes formed half of the dynamic duo that moderated the now defunct Toronto Poly Yahoo! group. Until she returns from vacation in early June, her duties will be fulfilled by Danaeris, TorontoPoly.ca's Managing Editor. The list is owned by TOCityGuy, one of the web administrators for the TorontoPoly.ca website.Although subscriptions to the list have rapidly increased, the list remains a shadow of its former self. Community members are encouraged to help spread the word!

Early last week, Yahoo Groups chose without warning to delete the torontopoly YahooGroup. In the process, they deleted the list of over 300 subscribers and the archives which have accrued over the years of this long-standing local poly resource.

New weekly Poly Social venue chosen!

TorontoPoly.ca is very pleased to announce that beginning Monday, November 6, the weekly Poly Social will be moving to its new home at the Imperial Pub Library! In conjunction with this move, the social's official start time will be moving to 6 p.m., in order to accommodate the hours at which parking lots begin their flat rates for the evening, as well as the time at which most attendees seem to arrive. Attendees remain welcome to show up early and stay past the official end time of 9 p.m.The move comes after ten months at The Artful Dodger, where members complained of poor service and discriminatory behaviour on the part of the waitstaff. Over that time period, attendance declined by half, which many attribute to the venue. Community members hope that a move to a new venue will once again raise attendance from an average of nine to an average of between 15 and 20, as it was before the event moved to The Artful Dodger in January of 2006.Volunteers visited nearly 80 venues in the search for a new, better option, narrowing it down to a favourite 15. More volunteers got in the game at that point, voting to narrow the numbers down enough that the community could vote on the issue. The final decision was put to the community in a poll, in which the IPL won by a huge margin. Even if all of those who had voted for other venues had combined their votes in supporting a single venue, the IPL would still have won. Please stay tuned for more information as new developments occur! Also, we are looking for a volunteer to go over the social FAQ and identify questions which need to be updated based on the venue change. If you would like to volunteer for this duty, please contact the site administrators for more information.

The site is still in its bare-bones beginning stages, but content will be added soon.In order to make that happen, we need volunteers to post news and web links, write articles and reviews, and help build this into a thriving community resource. If you would like to be a part of this project, please contact us (/index.php?option=com_contact Itemid=3) and we'll let you know what's needed.
